Fox Valley's Top-Rated Summer Event, the Kane County Fair! Each July, the Kane County Fair is held at its Fairgrounds located in St. Charles, Illinois. In addition, the fairgrounds are host to several special events, including the Kane County Flea Market and the Chicago Toy Show. Kane County Fair and Fairgrounds - History The first Kane County Fair was held in 1868. The Kane County Fair shifted its location between Aurora and Elgin in the 1870s and 1880s. From 1897 to 1901, the Kane County Fair was located at Laurelwood Park in Batavia, Illinois. In July 1901, a major fire destroyed the grandstand and stables. The park closed shortly after that, forcing the Kane County Fair to relocate. The Kane County Fair was held in Elgin from 1946 to 1954. The Kane County Fairgrounds, located off Randall Road in St. Charles, Illinois, opened in 1955. After running continuously for 151 years, the 2020 Kane County Fair was canceled due to the Covid-19 pandemic. However, the fair returned on July 14-18, 2021. The Kane County Fairgrounds is home to the Chicago Toy show on the fourth Sunday of April., July, and October. The Kane County Fairgrounds also is home to the Kane County Flea Market, which is open the first Sunday, March through December and the preceding Saturday. Helen Robinson started the Kane County Flea Market in 1967. Helen's sons and their family now run the Flea Market.
