Food For Greater Elgin (FFGE) is the second largest food pantry in Kane County. Our goal is to combat food insecurity in the most effective and supportive ways possible by giving our community the resources it needs. Every week, Food For Greater Elgin hosts guest-choice distributions offering both day and evening shifts for our guests’ convenience. This style of food distribution has been proven to lower waste while preserving the dignity of clients. Shoppers can receive food once per week, and may choose from a variety of products, including meat, fresh produce, dairy, deli, and shelf-stable items, and are assisted by volunteers during the shopping process. In collaboration with other organizations and businesses, FFGE’s Community Resource Center provides our clients with the necessary additional services and resources that address any other issues contributing to food insecurity.
